i6 200 engine. Header on it. Right now im running dual thrust glasspacks. Its annoying. Not the sound I thought itd be. Looking to find a deeper or at least quieter sound.

My first issue is I could run dual mufflers. but they take up a lot of room underneath especially with the pipes inches from each other. so lack of space.

So can I run a muffler designed for one in two out? I think if its chambered itll create too much back pressure. If straight baffled itll be fine. how do i know if a muffler is baffled or not?

I also have a y pipe i could connect to just run one muffler. Any down fall of running the header with dual out let and combining the pipes?

What muffler would you recommend for a good low "growl" (gurgle?) type sound?

Well, if you want a great sound try a Magnaflow, and they make them where you can use one muffler with two in and two out. It probably wouldn't make any difference if you use a good flowing Y and brought them both together with one outlet................and the outlet could be 2", 2.25", 2.5" or even 3", but I think that would be an overkill.
Go to their website www.magnaflow.com and look for a dealer near you. Magnaflow is making mufflers for retail customers like Ebay and other online stores and they are also making a no-name muffler for their installation dealers so they can be competitive. I just put on my 08 Dodge Ram pickup and I have to say it is really nice, just mellow and when you put your foot in it it growls............really nice.

I really think some borla universal turbo mufflers would sound awesome on there. But I have never heard them on a straight six. Here are some videos I found while looking for borla on youtube.

I have said it before (maybe even to you)....and now I will say it again. It is a 6 cyl....in MY opinion they only way to make them sound good is very, very quiet. I have personally had turbo mufflers and glass packs on a 6 cyl car. I was never happy with the NOISE. I always switched over to a standard OEM type muffler and was happy.

I'm with Graig and dk.............My first car was a 1952 Chevy with a 55 Corvette 6cyd and it had a fantastic, sound very mellow. I had tube type headers I made myself in metal shop with 1-3/4" exhaust and welded all of the joints.........I used actual Corvair Turbo mufflers. I believe the real key to a quite exhaust is to weld the joints, not this U clamp junk, or if you don't want to weld it use Marmon Clamps, they seal just as good as a weld and you can take them apart.......................and when any exhaust system is sealed is sounds good......................................IMHO

There's plenty of space to run duals. I have a dual outlet header on my 250 with full dual exhaust out the back and it fits great. I am running Magnaflow Turbos and it sounds pretty good. Check my gallery for a picture of it. :thumbs2:
