OK. I know I'm kinda old and all but I just went to the exhaust shop to get a quote for duals. no headers just stock manifolds. He quoted me 308.00 for duals back to the rear axle with a turn down. This seems a little steep to me. 10.00 worth of pipe and 2 glass packs.

does anyone know of an aftermarket kit. I have looked and all I can find are for headers. thanks for your help...:bananaman

That is pretty steep. You can buy exhaust pipe from Summit and do way better than that. It comes in straight sections and curved sections.

That is a bit steep but if you do not have a bender and torch etc, it could be worth a bit of extra money to have them custom fit to your car. Around here, it runs about 150.00 with glass pack mufflers. Good exhaust tubing is a bit pricey, but should not rust out like some of the cheap stuff available. Just depends on the individual and his means and uses for the car, etc.

Remind me of where you are at in Indiana. I can recommend some good shops that can treat you right.

You got a hell of a deal. When I did that at my old job (got a new job last week) It would end up around $560.00-$580.00 after tax.

I have bent pipe for 10 plus years. That tubing is more than 10 bucks. In reality it cost 12 to 20 bucks a stick for aluminized. Stainlesss tubing can cost upto 75.00 bucks per stick. Then the shop needs to mark it up to make profit. the mufflers can can cost a shop 12.00 to 65.00 and again they need to mark it up some. Labor rates vary from 52.00 to 70.00 per hour. Depending on the application it can take 2 hrs to 4 hrs(expert bender) for the really tough stuff. If you need new studs in the manifolds gasket or hangers agian it all adds up. A basic system started at 250.00 and went all the way to $1500.00 bucks for full stainless mandrel bent and polished systems. This was a retail location of course and there are guys who can afford to do it cheaper. I have thought about buying an exhaust bender but at 5k on up for a good one it takes alot of side jobs to pay off.........So are you getting ripped off??? I guess it depends on the quality of work and qaulity of parts this guy is using.:) BTW I have built custom headers x pipes h pipes you name it.:90:

I got a good deal on mine, I think, because this is the same guy who caught my mav carpet on fire (through the steering hole in the "fire"wall) doing my sidepipes. I guess he thought he owed me, and may have only charged for parts, eating the labor for me.

Or maybe he is just a well-priced shop. I have sent many friends there for discounted work. Everyone has been happy, and no more fires (he said mine was the 2nd in 25 years).
