I installed a set of Hedman shorty headers with no fitment issues on my 73 Maverick. My question is this: Has anyone installed these on their vehicle and if so, what degree / length exhaust pipes do I need to come off the reducers so they'll turn back under the vehicle just enough to install the mufflers until I can get it to the muffler shop. I want to be able to drive it and it not be too loud like right off the headers? The shorty header on the driver side turns downward a bit more than the passenger side. The same as the factory exhaust.

    Thanks

I installed a short pipe from the collector to get the exhaust down under the car and drove it to the muffler shop that way. Jeff drove his Mav from Atl. to macon (50 miles) with open header to the same shop...:thumbs2:

I drove my Comet not once, but twice to the muffler shop with just the headers and stubby extension...

Be careful of the exit angle, I blistered the paint on right side floorboard...

Yeah I noticed the right side header is pointed sorta straight to the floorboard. I'm gonna angle the reducer down a bit off the header and install a small straight exhaust to direct the heat under the car. Left side looks good. Just a straight pipe will do.
