hey i have a 74 Maverick with a 302 and want to go for a fuel injected modern setup, has anyone used it? i wanna use http://www.fuelairspark.com/fas/ez-...ction-master-kit-w-in-tank-fuel-pump-kithtml/ but dont know if i need the intake or if it will fit my original intake manifold, should i just get theres? and if i do get there aftermarket intake manifold then do i need fuel rails http://www.fuelairspark.com/fas/small-block-ford-289-302-single-plane-efi-intake-manifoldhtml/ http://www.fuelairspark.com/fas/small-block-ford-fuel-rail-kithtml/ also anyone do any suspension or any other engine mods thanks, i have barely around 1400 saved but almost there and no negativity, im going with the fuel injected no matter what, thanks!!
i recently discovered http://fitechefi.com/ a car at the autocross was running it. he had all kinds of great stuff to say about it. i have one on order for a customers car. we should get it next week and installed and running by the end of the week. i talked to the people at fi tech and they are very helpful. their system costs less than half of the other systems on the market. its computer is in the throttle body and that makes the installation really easy. i used a ezefi system once when they first came out and it would work well some times and drive like garbage at other times. the car owner hated it, gave it away for a carb swap. i never heard if that system ever worked again. i believe fast has updated the system sense then. ill post a review of the fi tech system when we get it done. as for their intake, its a single plane intake. you will want a engine with bigger than stock displacement and that is built to go to 7000+ rpm. if your motor has a 2 barrel intake you will need to replace it to goto any of these throttle body fuel injection systems. also that fast intake is not for throttle body fuel injection. its for a direct port system. i would recommend the edelbrock performer rpm air gap intake.
I've read about these in a few magazines. It's something I would like to try someday, but I think I'll wait for the price to come down a bit. They all seem to be designed for four barrel intakes.
Woah sweet thanks!! I checked them out and so far am please with the comparison, I may go with them instead of fast
so far its good. good people to ask for tech support. there are based in Memphis, to that helped a lot. I could willcall right there in Memphis. I would get the 2.0 version.
I just wanted to make sure that the efi systems would work good on our cars since they are sorta new to the carburetor world for these cars, I mean yea there's ls swaps and coyotes but I want the original engine but more updated to meet modern requirements, I mean our cars are basically light as the come, cause we don't have computers or a s*** ton of wires running throughout every little piece in the car, I do however plan on installing LED head and tail lights and do play on adding some goodies like portable wifi and a few usb connections and some interior lighting
for efi, they are pretty minimal for wiring, i have the ezefi and i have a tcm, and still its not bad. im going to relocate my efi into the cab of the vehicle to clean it up. the birds nest is power that i have found. power for the fuelpump, fan, ecu's all take direct power to bat. i am also running the tcm a msd box as well. i found these nifty power relays im trying out on my system. they are able of 60 amps, and have intergrated fuse module, that should clean things up abit. ill photo what i am doing.
so we have the fi tech efi installed and running. now i can say its great. the install was the easiest efi ive ever installed. just 4 wires. hardest part is the fuel system. lots of ways to do it. if you used their commander fuel tank it would be really easy. so when we first started it it ran poorly. we messed with stuff like timing looked for other problems. we found out that the 68 el camino with a 396 in it really had a 454 in it. we changed the engine size in the program and instantly its running like a top! really, it started right up and drove perfectly. of all the systems ive seen and worked with, the fi tech efi is the easiest one to install and use.
