That's rather cool. I should gut my am radio and put in a amp/volume control with an mp3 input.

The only problem I see with it is the lack of stero output since it is an AM radio. Kind of defeats the purpouse of installing an Ipod if it only comes out in a monotone..

The mav is gone but i'm still here!

Most people only have crappy 128kbs audio files, I think stereo is not even on their mind

Also I've noticed most new albums don't even have any stereo advantages vs 80/70s music. Where you could actually hear the difference in each ear :D

    That's why I stick to 60/70s rock (y)

That's kinda funny, we were talking about that the other day in my service van, nothing on the radio changes from side to side, unless it's something from the 70's, then it kinda freaks you out a bit.

I watched a youtube vid on how to do this with your radio. Its pretty easy. Was going to do it for my Durango but I just got an Ideck that plays in the cassette deck and acts as a holder for the ipod. Works great since my factory radio doesnt have an aux jack. It was 38 bucks on ebay.

But if you still have the AM radio....you only have the dash speaker...so "stereo" doesn't really matter.

I think a true audiophile would ditch the AM radio all together...but for those that want to keep a 100% stock look....this could be a great option.

That is pretty cool. You will get a better frequency response from most cassette decks thatn you would from an FM modulator. Plus...no interference.

If one had an 8-track....One could get an 8-track to cassette adaptor (remember those...I still have one)....then get the I-deck.....and listen to their Ipod. :D

Every one I have seen lately are for FM only, but here's what I believe you are talking about. It's kinda pricy at close to $50.00 though.

I saw that on line the other day http://www.rediscoveradio.com/
Sounds like what you are describing.

On my Mustang I did put that in http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-1965-F...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item35b28825d0

When the power is off it looks like an old radio, it has a jack for iPod and can be fitted with a CD charger. Worked great and I did not have to butcher the dash.

Cool! Let us know how it is and feels then. My main question being, does it gets the stereo signal back to a mono signal or does it just select one of the 2 stereo signals and blasts it through the mono speaker? Cause I don't mind having a mono signal as long as I still have all the music!
