Will a 10 inch(25.6cm) rim fit? No. In my experience there is aproximately 11 inches of space underneath the wheel well. The wheel flange* is about adds about an inch. A 15x8 wheel with a 3.75 backspace** will fit with 225/50/15 all the way around. Always measure first then fit the tire. 245mm tire can be run all the way around but are taller than factory stock. You may also need to run revised aftermarket control arms in the front because of camber problems inherent in the design. They camber the tire outward and cause rubbing with 245's in the front.

A competent shop can bulge the fenders allowing bigger tires, but the same backspacing and tire height should be kept so the tires do not rub on full turns. Note that the size 245mm indicates the size of the entire tire, not just the tread. This site will help you with your tire fitment calculations:

    .
    * Wheel flange - The part of the wheel that is the 90 degree angle that the bead sits on. The wall of the tire presses against the wheel lip seen from the outside.
** Backspace - The distance from the inside mounting surface of the wheel to the lip. ALWAYS measure to the lip.
***Camber - The amount of degrees the wheel leans into the wheel well during cornering or bumps. Most car tires have a little camber while at rest.

There are variables. With 225/60-15s on the front, a 3-3/4" backspace, and 1 full coil removed, I had rubbing on the outside fender lip on turns. Since I don't want to go with a narrower tire, I plan to go with a 4-1/4" backspaced wheel...

Are you talking about old mustang or newer mustangs. 4 lug or 5 lug?

    Bullit Wheels??

Just wondering what the spacers are for?Is it to change the bolt pattern or to bring the wheels outward more. Thanks Derek.

They are to set the wheels farther out, the wheels are the same bolt pattern .

Hi, i was wondering if 17x8 mustang cobra rims would fit in the front of my 76 mav. They are 5 lug. heres the wheel size 245/45ZR17. Any info would help.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!

With mods it can, They have the same bolt pattern but you will need to use spacers because they have between 5-6" of backspacing, i plan to use the 17x9 2000 Cobra r's with a 1.25" spacers.
