Went to the track yesterday to prepare for today's bracket races. Cars have been idle for two weeks, so lot's of preparation to do. Being the Stang is on race gas, paying 5.50 a gallon has been the norm. With my Fairmont and Mavman's Maverick running alky, 2.50 a gallon has been a bit more reasonable, except for using twice as much per run, as does the gasoline.

Usually buy the alky by the barrell and save a little money that way. Around 130.00 for 55gal's of the elixer. Then add 12.00 worth of top lube and some grape scent to kill the eye burning fumes of said fuel. Stopped at the track's fuel station to buy a barrell and "WOW", the supplier has increased the cost to the track to "200.00" a barrell and could give the owner no real expanation for it.

Seem's it is something to do with propane price and well drilling, etc. I am not buying the theory completely because on the way to my home away from home, stopped at WaldyMart and filled the truck for 1.95 a gallon of regular. I'm betten the recent reductions in gas price is being made up on the methonol. Bad thing about it,is, we will still pay it, to race. Just wondering if any of you other guys in other area's have had the same increases too. Thanks for letting me vent some here.

That is just wrong. I am sick and tired of these price swings in such huge numbers. Day traders and speculation about what happens when the big hurricane hits the gulf this past summer kept oil high until no hurricane came this year. Now they have no reason to keep gasoline and diesel high, so they move on to other products.

I'm a big user of LP gas. About 7000 gallons a year. 5 years ago we paid $ .66 (66 cents) a gallon. This year we locked at $1.40 a gallon. I don't see why a waste product of oil production should go up so much and better yet I don't see why that would effect methanol prices so much either.

IMO its the biggest SCAM ever.

any kinda of fuel, its a set up that is so huge

how can one gas station be 2.15 here and 5 miles up the road be 2.27?

my dad drives transport tanker delievers to gas stations and 99.9% of the time it comes form the exact same place it is all:bs:

Count your blessings on the price of the racing gas Dave...it's 7.50 a gallon at the track for Sunoco Blue...if I had any sense I'd by it by the barrel...price on regular gas is the same at Wallyworld...this biggest ripoff to me is the price of diesel...cost the least to produce and cost the most at the pumps:bs:

Well just great. Forcast was for 20% chance of rain late in the evening, started pouring down as we arrived at the track, 8:30am. Racing cancelled and scheduled for next week, that means we will race four more Sunday's in a row, if it does not rain them out too. Typical pattern for this time of year around here, really was really up to win today, as was Mavman(trying to make it three wins in a row for Pro/no/e) Hope I can hang on to my sixth place in the points too. Soon as the last points race is done, will take out the 331 workhorse that has served me so well, and install the 347 for the Jan 1 race.

Aw, man. That's a bummer (the weather).

You guys probably start getting the shakes if you don't race at least once a week. Ha!

And yes, I'm envious. I hope to soon be going to the track as often as y'all have been going. Fortunately, I tuned my engine with 93 octane - realizing I'm 'trading off' a few horses not using a higher grade.

Good luck to you guys next weekend. Hopefully, the weather will be good for you.

You the man Rick. Did you ever try to wake a sleeping bear? That is how I react to not being in the seat. Guess that is why the Doc gave me some Trazadone pills to to quite the nasty little beast inside my pea brain. Works pretty well too. Mr. Force has numerous tendancys and quirks, exactly like mine. Only raised one girl though, poor John.

Hope you can get in more seat time too, lot's of adrenalin and mucho fun. Kind of like finding the fountain of youth, for me.

Got a good story about one of our fellow racers, who has gone to NHRA circut in his Super Comp dragster. Won his first Wally in Memphis this year. Will post later.
