I'm sorry for his family and that racing community. His accident exemplifies why you don't go down the track without being buckled in.

'Says he was not belted in. No sanctioned race track would allow that...

Man, sorry to hear that. Always wear a seatbelt, both on and off the track..

It is sanctioned. ;) However when they have the Hotrod drags or the muscle car Drag days, they tend to be lax as it is a non NHRA event and they realize most of those old Hot rods didn't come with seat belts from the fatory. Racing is dangerous we all take that risk every pass saftey gear or not. I say the guy went out doing what he liked to do. It's still a shame. Just remember seat belt or not he would have been dead. It was a T bucket? No roof and rolling tends to kill a man.

Lance, I did not pay attention to the open car part. Seat belt probably would not have a made a difference. I know they look out of place on a street rod, but if I had t-bucket or a high boy, I'd have a roll bar.

A buddy of mine is big into T-buckets. Few years ago I helped him a bit on building a 454 T-bucket. I would not ride in that thing no way no how. This buddy is so big into T-buckets that I have been able to spend time with Norm Grabowski. Cool guy, they all think I am nuts to ride a motorcycle but be afraid of a T-bucket. Sad about the guy getting killed drag racing. At the least, he was living life to its fullest when he went out. Guess not a bad way when you think of it. God bless him and his family.
