Hey guys! Have a question for ya...

You know how, on our wheel wells, the lip curves back under the car? Is the purpose of this for rigidity and support, or, just to give the car a "finished" appearance?

In other words, suppose I wanted to trim the fender wells a bit. Would I have to weld in a new lip? If so, how would I do this and what would the new lip be made out of/look like, since the sheet metal is thin (22 GA?) to begin with?

    Thanks,

    Eric (silver70)

It adds rigidity plus is an attaching point for the inner fender well. You will have to fab up something if you trim the openings. You might try to get in touch with Tom Hackman. He does this stuff on his Mavericks.

Hello Eric, I've just looked over the new Eastwood catalogue and they have a tool that rolls that fender lip so you can install bigger tires...Hotrod-Daddy
