Doe anyone know if they make a patch panel for the lower part of the front fenders. The body guy called it the "heel" of the fender. I swear if I ever buy another 40yr old car, I am gonna make the seller strip the paint off first....
I have a couple of these I can sell you. Nobody makes them. Mine I cut off of good fenders that were crunched on the front. Email me directly (see below) if I can help.
How bad are they? fixing the bottom, is fairly easy...I hope the body shop isn't going a little overboard on you...
The bottom of both are not real bad. Just lots of holes close together. He said he could fix it, but wondered if there was a weld in patch. He thought it might save time.
Unless the bottom has a huge hole or is real, real rusty....better off just to fix the fenders. The only time I feel it necessary to replace the entire fender is when the top is rusted out, or it is rusted out real bad around the side marker.
Here are the fenders. The holes dont look like much here, but they do go all the way thru. There is bondo in them and it didnt come out in the pic to well. As you can see the front of the RH one is also smashed. He is worried about there being a brace type thing in inside. He said he has seen way to many rotted out. Does that make sense? So you think these are keepers? Thanks again for your help.
Those don't look bad at all. He needs to get them off the car and see what they look like from behind. They also need to be blasted and repainted from behind as well for good measure. I would repair the rust. Looks like an easy fix. I have sold worse fenders.
