Today was the final race for the season. Championship was already decided last week and the winner was John Norman in his Pro/No/e 71 Maverick. Mavman, missing two races with his damaged 418 windsor, ended up 6th with his Maverick. I was in contention for a spot until the 331 gave up a rod, in the fairmont. John is from Scranton Arkansas, and has been in the top ten almost every year, with his 351w, for the past 12 that I have been at our track. Only one I can recall that he was not, was when we almost lost him in a motorcycle accident, last year. Three of the top four spots, went to Ford's and the driver's were all from Scranton also. Very small town but half the residents race. I did manage enough points to win a barrell of fuel for next season, from Sunoco.

Just to let you know how hard it is to win at Centerville's 1000ft bracket Sunday race's, mavman drove his Mustang today, since the maverick was already at home for the winter. Made six passes(special combo race today 1/8th mile). The little 302 ran five consistent 6.86-7's with no worse than a .515 light, and still lost to a .500 Ch***. Lot's of fun and a bit chilly, but now we can take a month off before it all starts again. Goodbye's were said and good friends were sadly left, until we meet again next season . Champion for 2006 second half points chase. "The Mighty Maverick" (Also won again today)

That's great news Dave. Sorry you couldn't have a 1-2-3 finish in the Mavs, but it sound like you did alright. Good luck next year!

sounds like a fun season. i use sunoco purple. last barrel was $290, but i was told that it had gone up. i'm gonna need another barrel beginning next season. i raced yesterday. red lit second round. was laddered against my travelling partner. he put an .004 light on me. got 2 more races in december but i've got 3 years on this motor and need to freshen it up. first race of next season is jan. 13th. was 90 degrees at the track yesterday.:)
