Final sand before paint, wet or dry

    The reason I'm asking, I used an acrylic urethane primer and wet sanding is making it like glass, not sure there's anything for topcoat to stick to.

    600 wet on primer or 1000 on the old paint is what we use in our street rod shop.

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    Are you useing single stage or bascoat clearcoat...Either one will work fine with the 6oo grit finish.

    well... It's single stage? but will be clear coated. I bought, don't laugh. Kirker paint. The price was right and so far I love their primer. I figure I will have some areas I will want to redo in the next couple years so it will get repainted anyway. If I am happy then hopefully it will last.
