I know there are a few paint & body people out there. So, what should I use for my final sand before sending the 4-door for paint ? The painter is a friend and alot less expensive than other options so I'm doing as much as I can myself. Especially with the blue I'm using (it will show everything !!). I was thinking a 400 or 600 wet. Will it be ok, or should I go finer ?
    Thanks, Darrel

I myself have always used 400 or 600 wet. In the old days before I sealed I always used 600. Now with sealer I mostly use 400, but when I absolutely am doing a show paint job, I use 600 even though I am sealing it before topcoats.

Did 600 on mine the smoother you get it the better the overall will come.

Dan Starnes has got the right idea. No sense in anything finer than 600 if you're getting ready to put on several coats of paint. Just because you might wetsand something with 1500 grit paper before you paint it doesn't mean it will be smoother than sanding with 600. You're just creating more work for yourself. You want a good smooth surface with no sand scratches showing up. Wet 600 will eliminate that and wet 400 will in most cases (usually depends on the sander). Your paint is going to have a certain amount of texture when you spray it on so using anything finer than 600 is going to be a moot point because you can't spray the paint on as smooth as your presurface was. Use your 1200-1500 to do your wetsanding and buffing.

Bodywork is hard enough.. bein in charge of the shop is even harder. Kudo's to Ray. That is a long time to put up with that kind of stress.
