Wow, its been awhile but I finally got on the road with my 1970 Maverick. It runs and sounds great (flowmasters)! I've got some tweaking to do yet. My main issue is with the steering. I thought it felt like the tires were rubbing when making a hard turn, but I checked that and everything seems clear, really odd. So if this seems like something anyone else has experienced, please let me know what you think. Also, thanks to all the experienced members here who helped me out with technical question along the way. [IMG]

I love it, magnums and the color.

I had a problem on my '75 one time. My headers were not allowing my wheels to turn all the way to one side or the other. It seemes like it was the driver's side. The header was actually interfereing with the steering linkage. I have long since corrected the problem. It was even with a manual steering rack. I used a drop bracket on my '73 with power steering.

Green with Magnums ... love it ...(see below picture ) Clean car!

re: rubbing ... I have an idea ... any chance you are running a disc brake swap and 14x7 wheels? ... if so, the caliper and wheel get very close in that combo. I had casting flash on the caliper and the wheel weld hit when I tried it. A little grinding on the caliper could fix it if so. I am thinking you might only hear yours due to that last bit of flex in everything while cornering.

It looks like manual steering. Anything else you can tell us? Everything in the front end feel secure?

Headers X2 ... look at where the pitman arm comes out of the steering box. I may be putting a dent into the header pipe on left turns.

Thanks guys for the nice comments, I'm glad you're liking the green because I was originally thinking of changing the color until I put the magnum 500s on, now I want to stick with the green. Plus, its a classic color from the 70s that you just don't see everyday.
About the steering issue. I do have power steering. It seems worse when making a right turn. But I have noise both ways. I have Hedman headers, the drop down bracket they sell did not provide enough clearance. So, I fabricated my own, it seems to work well. Not quite as pretty as the Hedman factory bracket but I painted it black and it blends in good.
I'll check the pitman arm as was mentioned, to make sure its not hitting the headers. As well as the brake caliper. I did notice a rubbing mark on the outside corner of the passenger side caliper, but I didn't see any marks on the rim? I have 15x7 on the front, 15x8 on the back. Could this caliper issue be the culprit? I'll pop the wheel off the drivers side and see what that caliper looks like. I was a little confused because I didn't think the rim/ caliper clearance changed with steering or suspension motion, plus no marks on the rim?
