Finally got the Grabber hood painted and am going to install the stripe in a few weeks. I painted the undersurface myself, but because I suck at painting I had the top painted by a pro. The hood cost me $450, I prepped it (free), a quart of red PPG paint, hardener & reducer cost $150, having it painted cost $200 and the stripe cost about $100. Lots of money to have a Grabber hood, but I think it makes a lot of difference personally.

I have 2 sets of scoops, one cut open that I'm going to use for drag racing...I figure it will keep the engine compartment a little cooler, and one set with the black grill for show or whatever.

I got the stripe from Graphic Express and it seems like excellent quality, but the gap in the middle is bigger at the front just like DMHines reported on his stripe from another vendor.

A prime example of of how much these hoods cost - after all is said and done. I spent over $1,100.00 for a replica hood on a '90 Mustang....ONCE.

Looks good. Congrats on getting-r done.

Wow, expensive hood. As long as it is worth it to you, cost dosent matter.

In hindsight it wasn't worth it to me, but you know how it goes when you start something and want to finish it. You don't realize how much things are going to cost in the beginning, then you get in the middle of the project and have to fork out the rest of the $ to finish it so you don't waste all the money you've already spent. It comes from inexperience. It happened on the whole car for me...paint, engine, etc., but I don't regret all the money I've spent cause now it's just how I wanted it to be.

I know the feeling very well. Even experienced people can get in that bind. My 57 Ranchero is already there & I'm still taking it apart!!!

Nice job. If you thought painting the hood was expensive redo the whole car.I`m finding out the hard way.
