It has been about 1 year since I stopped driving the Maverick and started the restoration. Today, I shot the first body color for it. :bananaman :bananaman :bananaman OK, it is not a lot- but to me this is a HUGE turning point in the project. There are several key days in any restoration project and right now I finally feel like I'm actually getting somewhere. It is like the day you fire up an engine that you spent about a 100 hours on for the first time. It is cool! Enjoy - now it's time for a Eric J (or maybe this feeling is just the left overs from the paint fumes? )
Looks like a very complete job you are working on there, and a good job I might add. Looks great, keep us posted on all the mile stones.
MAJOR Congratulations, Eric for a MAJOR milestone! That's a deep-looking paint (in the pictures at least). Looks great. I'll join you in a celebratory beverage!
Thank you everyone, for the kind words. If you were here I'd toss you all a beer! There going down good tonight! Eric J For the record, that yellow is pretty darn yellow, isn't it . Real names have it called orange or gold! It is an old Mercury (Cougar) color called "Competition Gold" or on the Ford side (Mustang) Grabber Orange. I don't know if any Mavericks were actually painted with Grabber Orange or not, as my color chart has it listed as a Mustang only color.
Oh and Rick - it is deeper in person than in the pics! 1st time I've worked with Centari, so far so good! Glad I did the final with 400 grit
Eric, looks great. I like the color. Stripping it down like you have it is the only way to go. Good luck with it. Hope you don't run into too many obsticles.
