Well I finally got it to the track...pics are of a burnout and my best timeslip.
The setup did well but could do much better...I've got alot of wheelhop on launch and it shifts out of second just as I'm getting into the powerband good (4200 rpms)
I'm running a manual valve body and there's no way it should be coming out that soon. It shifts out on it's own. I shouldn't have to shift out of second at all on an 1/8th mile run.
I think once I get it shifting and hooking up right I should be mid 7's
All in all I had a great time and the car does awesome burnouts, sorry about the picture quality.

That's just it Ray...I don't bring it out of second...it goes into third all by itself just as I'm gettin into the powerband good...it's a bummer to say the least...but you can bet I'll get it straightened out before I go back.

Don't take this wrong, but sounds like the shifter is maladjusted. Even a stock c4 shouldn't shift into third when the selector is in second.

The selector stays in second, it doesn't slip out on its own...once I bring the rpm's back down it downshifts back into second out of third all by itself...I'm a little befuddled by it.

But is the selector on the shifter properly phased with the one on the side of the transmission? If you're using a b&m shifter, the spacing is sort of better suited to GM transmissions and has to be just right on these little Fords.

It is a B&M Ray...are you saying it could be moving out of second to third and then back to second without touching the shifter? I hope thats all it is...I can readjust it ...no problem...I set it up in neutral as per the instructions and it feels pretty good.

    very nice Rick!
Did you run those times on street tires? or slicks? either way very fast....but if in street tires. WOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOO!
I think what Ray is saying is, that even if you have the shifter in 2nd, the tranny might be in drive if the shifter cable is not adjusted properly and the tranny is in drive...maybe?

if you're just barely getting into drive when you put the shifter there, there's a good chance that's exactly what's happening.
I always et them up in first and then go back and fourth all the way a few times and verify that it's firmly in each gear.

Very impressive. Looks like I'll be checking your tail lights next time. If I could get mine to hook up, it would be a real close race. What tires are you running?

BFG Comp TA's Dennis...these things hookup great and are pretty good street tires to, although I've never tried them in the rain...SSM traction bars go on this week and I'll see if they help any since my launching problem is wheelhop. Right now I'm more concerned with what the tranny is doin on the top end now, I think I'd easily be at 90 mph at the finish if it wasn't shifting out on me.
Mav 73 my best time was 7.90@86 mph. That should translate to a 12.33@110 in the 1/4.
Ray I checked the selector vs. the gear arm today and it's firm in each gear, it's definitely in the tranny itself. We'll get it figured out one way or the other.
Thx for the words of encouragement yall.

I guess that means the SSM bars arrived safe and sound?
