I am going to start a thread for the work on my 72 this project looks like it will turn into a full restore inless i totally loss interest or totally run out of money (more likely the later). i have already played with this for a few weeks tearing down a shared parts car the other guy wanted mechanical and i wanted body. but i got my parts as a finders fee so the price was right:thumbs2:.
My 72 had been wrecked at least once (after some disassembly looks like more). i paid 400 for it and bought it as therapy against lead bottom.

I am sure i can use as much advice as available as i do this. So far i only get about 1 day a week for any serious work. so far i got the motor to start and run, has not done that in about 4 years still not smooth but this is a start. And inspection so far looks like a new drivers floor and torque box ( put my finger through it) from studying other posts i know a cause could be the cowl leaking, so when i tore the parts car apart i cut the whole thing out in one swing of the sawzall. The passengers frame needs straightening and interior needs total redo.
Well this is my start i hope you gents keep a eye on me and let me know when i am about to make a mistake as i am sure there will be several.
    Thanks in advance

thanks gents yea not everyone likes to crawl on top of others like on the west side. like i said i have been working on this about five days spread out over 6 weeks mostly taking parts off of a parts car, it started out only missing the rear diff. one week was spent thinking is it easier to get paperwork on a non papered car or fight twisted steel, wielding, mechanical, and interior. as usual i feared government papers more then hard steel. most of my days so far have not cost me anything but sweat. here is a couple pics of parts car on its last day

oh pictures do not show the missing floor boards from both sides of the front
Did start some tear down of the 72 but didn't take pics yet one good note is it looks like the gas tank just needs to be cleaned out. some black tar substance in the bottom and a small amount of flacking inside. hoping pressure washing will take care of it and maybe gravel like the neighbor said

    Golly

well this is going to take a lot longer then expected! three weeks with two weekends and so far all i have managed is to fix the CV joints on the truck so i don't get soaked on the bike, the head gasket on the kids Saturn and figure out why the wifes car will not unlock the gear shift.
i did get two small items done. a mount for a 2" tach to replace the ash tray since switch to e smokes 2 months ago. now if i can find a tach that works. and i rebuilt the piece that connects the cowl to the inner fender aprons these two are done a couple hours a night when i can feel like getting out in the garage.

    Rip

well i will officially call this thread dead it looks like the frame is to far gone the shock tower is about 2-3" pushed in the caster bolt in the lower control arm is pulled all the way in and the front end still looks like it is set for stock car racing and the motor is leaning to the right about 2" also. to top every thing else off the guy i hoped could do the frame is so backed up i can't even get him to look at it. i have not given up on mavericks i bought a 77 that is a lot better starting platform. and some of the other things i have done can be transfered

I piece of me dies every time I hear of or see a maverick get scrapped
Only bright side is makes the survivors raise in value, as the demand and supply ratio is skewed. :bouncy:

    Thanks

    thanks gents for the condolences
yea using the prices on ebay as a guide i should be able to get most of the money back just by selling the buckets seats if i decide to.
but just like people it can always donate its pieces to another to better there life. i have already made templates and took every piece for a small bumper conversion. and still need to remove the parts for a auto to manual trany conversion, thanks to the parts car this spring i have most of that except the column and floor shifter. and big your close enough i will share small things.:thumbs2:
