I took the "Bruiser" to the 1/4 mile track for the first time this weekend, for stop light drags. Heads up, no yellow lights. Just staging lights then green. Best run was 15.861 @84.42 mph. Average runs were in the 16.02 range. I was hoping for 14's but I guess I'm far away from that. The 3.00 rear gears and open diff. will have to be replaced. Here's my time slip for my first/best run
    60' 2.338
    330 6.601
    1/8 10.153
    mph 69.54
    1000' 13.129
    1/4 15.861
    mph 84.42

I had a good time and a couple of problems, but nothing too big. Drove the car 1 hour to and from the track with no problems, even made a few passes with the family in the car just so they see what it was like :D so I guess I'm happy, but a little voice in my head tells me "MUST GO FASTER!!!" :biglaugh:

Friendly advise here, Russ: Leave the family in the stands next time. It'll work wonders for your e.t. ;)

The main thing - okay TWO man things - you were able to drive the car to and from the track and have fun with the entire family!

Good luck on future voyages down that loooong quarter-mile journey.... and have your Flux Capacitor looked at before you go. (y)

The funny thing was, I got my second to fastest pass with the family riding along. :) I can only figure that the extra weight helped plant the right rear tire:huh: I know the carb needs rejetted (running rich) but the carb is a 750 cfm so I'm looking far a 600cfm to replace it unstead of re jetting. I was have some shifter linkage problems and two passes I got stuck in 1st gear. So those passes were lost. Still though in about 2 hours I made 7 passes at the track. There was hardly anyone there and you could race, and go right back into the staging lanes and be first or second in line. We're having fun now :D Russ

Years ago I had a 1973 2-door with full bucket interior, a rebuilt 1988 5.0 engine with an Edelbrock intake and carb, headers, C4 and a 3.55 rear. Only took it to the track once ... It ran a 14.7 at 96 MPH ...... If you are just running a stock motor that probably all you are gonna get ...

Sounds pretty good to me. My 60 ft is bout the same but I run lower 14's. I just have a problem getting out of the hole. You are right and might be over carbed.

I'll echo the sentiments of others...you drove to the track, you all had a good time, and the family got to ride, it don't get much better than that.(y)
It all depends on what floats your boat, since doing everything to my Mav to get it in the 7 second range I've never lost to someone else that drives to the track, BUT...I lose all the time to trailered cars and I'm sure I'll lose to a street car at some point: (Roundup):D ?? hehe.

I wish I could, but I just have too much on my plate this summer.
Here's what is on the wish list. 600 cfm carb, headers, 3.70/4.11 rear gears. I don't drive the car very much and when I do it's mostly around town, so I'm leaning twards the 4.11's. I still have a set of 2.79's in another center section. so If I go on a road trip I'll just swap out the center sections.
I have about a 3 sec. video clip of my car and my son is cheering his head off. I'll see if I can post it. Russ
