hey all. new member with a 1970 2 door 200cid Inline 6 maverick out of tampa florida. I bought my maverick a little over a year ago and thank my wife everyday for it. the story behind the situation is that at the time i was 19 and in college. I was driving a 2001 dodge stratus i had purchased on my own and was very proud of it. then i wanted to get engaged and buy a house. yes a little young but i love her. she told me they only way we could do it financially is to get rid of the srtatus and get a car with no payments. I then started my search for a used car that is reliable. Not easy to do. My friends parents were selling a car for 500 bucks and it ony needed gas tank repair. the gas tank was rusted out in the bottom. I had asked around about how good mavericks were and some people told me to jump on it, others(mainly mopar and chevy fans) told me i would be crazy to buy this car. well i went ahead and slapped J-B weld on the bottom of the gas tank, handed to owner 500 in cash and drove it that night 40 miles home. It has never broken down on me yet and is still my daily drive. from that day on i will always be a maverick fan, no matter how much crap i get from driving one.
Mavericks are way better than a Dodge Stratus. Got no love for them after my Best Friend was killed in one
even with todays gas prices, add up the payment and insurance subtract your monthly gas loss. when someone talks smack, tell them how much your saving by paying for more gas. i did that for years, and then id really tear into them when their car was back at the dealer again for major repairs. all a waranty means is that the repairs are MOSTLY covered, not that it wont break
