we had our first 2 team races for the year at firebird in phoenix. i went to the finals saturday and lost by .016 in a double breakout. sunday i got down to the final 5 then redlit. not too bad a start. was freezing there on saturday, sun came out today and weather was great. early morning density altitude was a -637'. best time on the new motor was a 12.09
yeah, it was pretty good allan. btw, didn't find any more red. have one and will check a few more places. will let you know.
Nice job Don, personnaly I think they ought to do away with that stupid red light bulb on the tree. Seem's it always short's out on me too, must be bad wiring or sumthin. Certainly not me or the car's fault. "Yeah Right" Good luck on the coming races.
rick, that wasn't the best for the car. i went 11.81 at bakersfield in oct. that was just the best this weekend on the new rebuild. i feel good about it as the old motor started out at 13.35. this one should be faster when i tune on it a bit more, plus go back to the synthetic, and it loosens up a bit.
-637' DA???!!!! Holy Cow (as Harry Caray said)! I've NEVER seen DA that good. Looks like you got yourself yet another winning combination! Way the weather is here...looks like racing season will be a ways off. 30's and water EVERYWHERE you look. Arkansas river is probably 5' from going over the banks; and it's been a good 7-8 years since I've seen it that high. I think we had something like 10" of rain in 3 days. I was out pounding the salvage yards today looking for a pair of fenders for mine & got one of the parts chaser cars stuck. The salvage owner usually keeps a couple old running cars to run back & forth to the yard; this particular one was a Geo Prism 5 speed...and it sunk into a "hidden" mudhole. It looked dry but it was nowhere near dry. Car sunk and I had to walk back to the guy's shop & tell him. Luckily he wasn't too worried about it, said he'd go get it out with the wrecker later on. Found one Maverick ('76), but the pass fender suffers the same problem mine does, it was bent up around the rear edge where the door hits it and the drivers side was already gone. REst of the car was....well...junk. Hit hard in the rear, gas cap already gone, etc. Only other cars I found were a '72 with no bumpers, no fenders, one door gone all glass broken and a '74 4 door that was hit hard in front and had rolled. Not much was salvageable on that one. Looks like I may have to use my old fenders. They aren't that bad, but I'd rather have GOOD ones. No big deal.
john, last year at this track i missed the first race, broke first round the second race, broke before the first round of the third race and missed the fourth race. complete turnaround this year i hope. except i'd like it to stay the same at tucson where i won the class.
