I've been spending a lot of time running my '89 Mustang to get seat time for my '70 Maverick when it's ready - Man, I think I had the worst outing ever yesterday. At the 1/8th mile track, all my time trials indicated I needed to dial a 9.17. During my first run in elims, I red lit - not even a close red-light. Normally, I only look at MY lights. This time, I found myself looking at the opposite lane's light. The other car was a couple of seconds slower than me so he got the jump. It seemed like I waited a month for my lights to go down. Sure enough - I left early - a .3X light!! On top of that, I ran a personal best of 8.8 on my 9.17 dial!!!! another . Okay, no prob. There's still the Consolation (lahooser's bracket). I dial in an 8.8 ..... and run a losing 9.18. I later found a loose vacuum line (to the EGR valve) and attributed the erratic times to that. It's as good of an excuse as any I've used before. Trying to find something positive in every situation, I am now focusing my attention back on my strip-only Maverick. I've had enough seat-time, with wins and loses, in the Mustang. It's time to have some REAL fun! Look out garage door hinges - If I have to use a solution of WD-40 and Panther Piss to open you up, I'm getting to the Maverick! -1PistRick
