Just got back from Russellville Arkansas. Go up every now and then to bench race and such with the local racers, who own a parts store of the type I grew up with. Good friendly service and lot's of BS while sipping coffee. Is not to far from John Medlins machine shop which has been doing most of the clutch and other work for Force racing. Found out that the senior Force has purchased all the equpitment and hired the lead machinest, to move them to Indiana. Not sure of the reason, but must be a business move to enhance the team Force program. Just a little tidbit that may interest the John Force admirer's, such as myself. Probably a cost saving move on shipping etc. Got to wait till Sept.1 to start racing again, seems the track owners decided ot was to hot in July and August, to allow bracket racing on Sunday. Don't understand that because all the other tracks in the area are still running in extreme heat and humidity. Hope the regulars return in Sept., have heard a lot of decent over this and may affect the whole program and number of cars showing up. At least I get to stay in 9th place in points, for a couple of months. Mavman is #1, for awhile anyway. I think he can maintain a good finish, with the Mav, for the last five races.
Yeah, John Force is one heck of a savvy businessman. I'm sure that there will be some advantage to it. I had to laugh, a lot of my buddies were writing him off at the beginning of this season but I kept saying that he always comes on about half way through and he's been good to form this year. It's like they play around for the first 3 races sorting things out then, BAM, he's in every final! I've followed Force for years and worked with Austin Coil a bit with the low dollar funny car team I was on 15 years ago. Great guys and they know their stuff!
Force and a number of others have a central race operation in Indianapolis. With the new points system, it is going to help if you are a great late season racer.
