I got very lucky today!! I snatched a Radiator, Grill and rear spoiler off a 73 grabber. All for $50.00!!!! I also made a deal for Electronic Ignition, Disk Brakes and rear end out of a 77 4 door. I will be picking that up later this spring. Got all of that for $125.00! The 4 door has bucket seats as well. They are red and need recovered but the tracks and everything are there. They really look pretty good. He said he would take $75.00 for them. Lots of good 4-door parts if anyone is interested. If anyone is interested pm me and I will send you his info. I hope someone can tell me what all I need to grab out of the 4 door to make the Electronic Ignition work in the Sprint. I haver never converted points over so I will need some help! Great Day indeed!!!!! Thanks Jerryfow2
You need the distributor, coil, spark module, and complete wire harness. The harness connects the 3 items together and the only thing left over will be a red & white wire which is your power input. ONe is for start and the other is run. I just solder them both together and then to a solid 12v source. Do not use the existing 12v to the + side of the coil because it first goes through some resistive wire. Great score on the other stuff.
Congrats! Awesome deal on the Grabber stuff! As for the ignition, grab the harness, coil and distributor as Dennis said if you want to keep it stock. To get the ignition harness out of the Maverick, you will have to cut the tape off the harness that runs over the drivers side shock tower, so that you can seperate the ignition wires from the headlight harness. The wires will be Orange, Purple, Black and Green that you need to remove for the ignition. When you go to put it in your car, you will need to run a switched 12 volt wire to the red wire comeing out of the Duraspark II ignition module. The white wire will advance the timing when you put power to it, and was used to make the car start easier. I never used the white wire on my car, and just cut it off flush with the box. If you want to take it up a notch, and make a way hotter igntion system you can just take the Duraspark II distrbutor. Get a hotter TFI style coil and an HEI Chevy ignition module. It is a very simple 3 wire harness you have to make to connect it all together. I just did that to my car, and it works very well. I can give you more info on that, along with which wires go where if you like.
Thanks for the help Guys and sorry for the late reply. I have been in PA all week for work. I think I'll stick with the stock dura spark for now but your information on what to get is pure gold thanks Mavaholic and Jamie. I have had no pms on the Bucket seats so I guess I'll just buy them myself! I can't stand the thought of them being crushed with the car. There are alot of good 4-door parts left on the thing. I will try and get 1/4 panels for patch panels off the thing but if anyone needs the doors and door chrome for a 4 door it looks really good. Bumpers are a little rusty but could be rechromed i guess. Any way thanks for the help! Jerryfow2
