I was digging around in my attic and found some stuff i had stashed away. I have a set of wide quarter window trim. on my car and all the others ive seen the quarter trim goes along by the quarter window and then you can see the body color paint and then the window. This trim goes all the way to the quarter window so you dont get that strip of body color in between.

So what were these an option on? I cant find a pic on here or even a discussion about them. and lighting in the attic was too bad to take a pic.

I dont think ive ever seen it on a car. I remeber a discussion abou tit on here once but cant find the thread. the strips are like 2-1/2" thick instead of the standard 1" or so strips.

Well I cant get a good look at his on any of his pics. but they are as wide as the bottom of the boomerang. I was holding on to them to use them some day but dont think it would look right adding more chrome to my car.

You mean this kind Ryan: (pic taken from either web, or on here..I think it's a 75 LDO Mav)

And doesn't it mate up to the straight-edged style Boomerangs?

Are you talking about the chrome? Early 73's had the narrow trim below the quarter windows, it was changed to the wider stuff at some point. My green 73 has the narrow, the brown 73 has the wide. Same assembly plant, one is early production, the other is late. My 74 has the wide.
The trim was part of the "Bright Window Trim" option (off the top of my head) it was standard on Grabbers, optional on the lesser Mavericks.

Roger that is what I have in the attic, that wide trim. Dave I have the narrow trim on my car like what you have in the pic.

So the wider chrome was mid 73 and later only as an option? did the later ones only get the wdie chrome if they got the bright trim package? Im trying to decide if I should put these on my car, or hold on to them if they are rare.

The wide trim was just a running change. My green 73 was built in 9/72 and the brown one 7/73.

I had the wide trim on my 74 grabber, ended at the door by the fender... I liked it....

My Comet was trimless there and I found the wide trim and added it. I like the continuity of trim around the quarters windows and onto the door.

I wouldn't call it "rare". I have several sets of the stuff...wide and narrow.

I think I'll put the wide trim on and see if I like it more than the narrow, I'm hoping they have the same clips underneath. Plus I found a nice set of Boomerangs with them and mine are getting a little pitted so I'll change it all out. I love finding my own treasures i stashed away. Wish I would have kep more of the stuff that i tossed years ago.

Different clips under the wide trim compared to the narrow trim.
