Hi All, I am new to this board ( Its a good find :) ) recently I purchased my first Maverick a 72 i6 soon to have 351w transplant. My question actually has to do with the Front suspension. I was thinking of purchasing a Mustang II frontend from Rod and Custom Motorsports. (kinda pricey) was wondering if anyone has done the swap before? is it a bolt up or alot of mod needed? any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Thack is going through it right now maybe he will see this. I do know that it takes some cutting and welding.

Just a little input to give you some info on my sons recent conversion. Installed a 351W in his 75 Mav, after cutting shock towers and making headers to fit(1 3/4 diam) the whole frustrating installation is still like a size 10 foot in a size 7 shoe. The power and torque increase is probably well worth the effort but if it was to be done again would definately go with the Mustang II front. Have you followed the posts on removing shock towers and using tubular A arms and coil overs? This also looks like an ideal solution to the shoe horn conversion of the 351W in the Mav's. Yes, it can be done without a lot of cutting and bashing but the spark plugs and headers etc. are never to be accessed easily again. If you have the knowledge and equipt to weld in the components or know someone who can, go for it. Have you thought about the 347 engine, a lot less hassle and bolts right in, of course more cubic inch means more power too so the decision is up to you. Keep us informed on progress etc.

I have been reading as much as I can on the Mavs before I start. I am familiar with GM cars. This is my first Ford (never thought I would do it (Chevy in my blood)but my MAV has transformed me!) I got it for a song and my intention was to do some minor things to it and resell it but now I'm hooked. So the ride i bought just to have some fun with this summer will be going through a mighty transformation. I'll post some pics of the progress. Thanks for your input.
