I was thinking about putting some Eibachs in the front, but many places list two different Mustang applications for performance springs: 65-66 and 67-73.

    Which ones fit?

Could be the 67-73 are for heavier applications cause thats when they put the FE motors in them. Call them and ask.

so..the Mustang springs are a direct swap? I was thinking of just running some V8 Maverick replacement springs and cutting a coil or so off to lower the car. Anyone had any experience with this?

They should be. I remember looking in a parts interchange book and they seemd to indicate that the 65-66 springs would swap in, but I am not sure that book was reliable. If anybody has a Hollander interchange that they could look in, I would be obliged.

OK, I just got off the phone with a buddy at National Parts Depot, and he said the the TRW catalog lists the 71-77 Maverick front springs as being the same size as the 67-73 Mustangs.

Unfortunately, Eibach has discontinued all their vintage stuff, but NPD has been making their own. Their spring for this application has a 550lb rate. I just ordered some, and when I get them in, I will let you guys know how they work.

Brad - be careful... not all V-8 springs are created equal. There were different ones for small-bumper and big-bumper cars, and also cars with A/C and without. I had a set out of a V-8 car with A/C and big bumpers, cut a coil off, and they still made the front end sit way too high for my liking. I attribute the difference to getting rid of a lot of weight by using a small bumper, aluminum intake and relocating the battery to the trunk. I ended up using a set of stock I-6 springs for the look I wanted.

I remember discussing this topic on this board several years ago and somebody actually sent me a list of color codes and the corresponding applications for the different springs. I can't remember right now who it was but I know I saved it. I'll look on my other computer tonight and try to find it.

    Sam :)

Thanks Sam. Maybe I'll just start by triming my stock six shooter springs and see how that works out.

    color codes.

I got some six cyl springs from someone on here quite some time ago. (wish I could remember who)
The springs had an orange stripe on them.
Imagine my suprise when I found that the springs I pulled out of my car(1972 factory v8 car) also had the same orange stripe.
I cut a full coil from the new springs and the car sits pretty nicely.
My engine has aluminum heads and intake and a few unneccesary items like the charcoal can and such have been removed. I'm guessing the front is somewhere around 100 lbs lighter than stock, but that's just a guess.
I'll get some pics up one of these days.
I'd also be interested in seeing the color code chart.

Ok, I found the list of color codes... It needs to be in table form so when I figure out how to post it here I will. Promise!
