Was talking with a friend of mine at lunch yesterday. he is doing a concours resto. on a RS/SS 4 speed 67 Camaro. He is at the frontend alignment stage. He was telling me the stock 67 specs has a different setting for each side (something to do with the road angle). my comment to him was..."you would have to drive in the slow lane on the interstate not to be pulling to the left in the fast lane." in todays world of roads and tires would it not be better to set them the same or as I pointed out the factory specs. would be fine being it will be driven in and out of a trailer only.
The sides were different, taking into account the crown of the roads (back then). I'd run both sides the same in today's world...
Not knowing much about GM alignment specs, I checked a '71 Motors Manual and didn't see any model Chevy, Camaro, Corvette etc that the desired specs for caster, camber & toe on right & left were not equal... That includes all years covered by this manual '65-'71... That said I have heard of adjusting for a high crown road if that's where the vehicle was mostly used, I'd guess there are some alternate specs available...
Bias ply tires...One reason for different specs from side to side but yeah, Crown of the road compensation...Not really necessary... now.
