This is the insert I built to replace the stock gas tank. I had to raise the 12 gallon cell up to clear the B&M fan cooled trans cooler. This is all made out of .090 aluminum. I ran a 90 degree bulhead fitting through the floor and flared the 3/8 hard line that runs to the fuel pressure regulator to fit it. The fan is a puller, it pulls air from the trunk and blows it through the cooler to the outside. The cell has a sender that works with the stock guage.

Looks like some nice work there. I've never seen anyone putting a tranny fluid cooler in the trunk - (not that I've noticed anyway). The bottom side of the car DOES get pretty warm with the exhaust.

    <--ponders doing same

I wanted a radiator without a tranny cooler in it, because I live in Lake Havasu City, Az. where it gets 125 in the summer, and can stay above 100 at night. I like to drive this on the street so I wanted the best chance at having the engine temps manageable all year. The remote tranny cooler has a temperature switch that cycles on at 175 and off at 150. And by blowing all of the air out the bottom of the trunk, maybe it will clear the tire smoke out quicker!!!!

    Steve,

Man, I sure do appreciate good fab work.... and you do good fab work! Looks Great. I have never thought about putting the xmsn cooler in the trunk area either, but it should work fine. Good Luck, and keep us posted.
