i have a fuel cell in the trunk of the mav and the thought crossed my mind to make it so i can fill the cell without opening the trunk. so i was thinking of using something like this

I have a 16 gallon Jaz cell in the trunk of my own 69.5. It is encased in a steel case and will hang down a little through the floor just like the stock tank. I bought a Shelby flip down filler cap which bolted in place of the stock rear cap. Then I bought an aluminum bolt in filler for the top of the cell and will be using a neoprene filler hose to connect between the cell and the steel filler tube. I haven't looked at these pieces in a while but I recall that I have to weld a size adaptor bell to the steel filler tube to match up with the cell filler piece so the hose will fit. Another thing with this set up is the vent hose has to be mounted higher than the flip down cap because there will be gas stored in the neck, just like a stock set up. You don't want gas to pour out of the vent before the gas station's filler nozzle shuts off.

This is one of my fist springtime projects for this year. :burnout:

Here is my flip down Shelby cap and the cell filler. The flip cap ia a little larger than the Maverick's rear panel plus it doesn't quite fit flush. It sits out a little bit from flush. I'm not going to return it so I'm just going to work the rear panel some to get it to fit. I think a slightly smaller cap would have worked better to begin with.
