Is 1/2" overkill and 3/8" sufficient? Race car only.
    Opinions and comments welcomed.
    Thanks

    Very informative answer, Frank. ;)

"Depends" is the typical answer for your question. Need to know more about your combination and equipment being utilized.

1/2" line is good if you have enough pump. Hell...we run #12 line from the fuel cell to the pump then #10 from the pump to the regulator. Then, #6 from regulator to carb bowls. We also have a ProStar 500 fuel pump. With a larger line you have to have more pump volume.

Most mild bracket race application can get by with 1/2" fuel line from cell to regulator. Just have to have enough pump to push the extra volume of fuel in that line.

was gonna say that! runnin a cell? im using -8 (1/2 ") off the cell to the filter, same to the pump.then ran all new 3/8 tube to the front(all insulated and rubber mounted) then 3/8 line to the reg, and carb. runnin 7 lbs. at idle, wicks up to 9.5 - 10 under extreme load. (and yes, i set the floats accordingly)

If you are going to run new line, why not go with the larger? P.S. a lot of tanks only have a 3/8 suction tube.
