    grrrrrrrrrrrr........

or Im running with a really really bad luck or what????
I tried to install a new fuel pump yesterday...well first of all fuel pump didnt look new at all...it was scratched and seemed like someone cleaned it. but anyways....
i tried every single thing to get that pump running..no results, i put filter before fuel pump to prevent it to get clog. the pump didnt run at all...there was no sucktion at all checked fuel lines..clean..checked sending unit..clean...blow on gas lines...they were ok..but the damn pump is not sending gas to the carb!!!!
    my question is...
is there anyway possible the fuel pump is defective? or maybe a returned pump that they put back in stock? what other reasons can cause the fuel pump not to deliver fuel to the carb? or am gonna have to drag my sorry ass back to the store and get a new one? geez man with no car i cant go and do that!!! i can go buy a new one at the store in the corner of my house (thank god)
maybe im not installing it well...but i did it 3 times!!! and i know the arm is in the right spot so ....oh by the way is a mechanical pump
    help!!!!

depending on where you got the pump it is a good chance that pump is defective. Keep in mind most of the parts you buy at the part stores are all rebuilt. It could of been a poor rebuild. One time I had to get a alternator for dare i say it......... my camaro (calm down everybody i was a dumb high school kid then) i went to pep boys for the part and put it on. Guess what, it was bad. Took it back and got another. Again it was bad. Finally I went a 3rd time and had them test what they had on the shelf. Including mine there were 5 bad ones. Not a good one in the bunch. Went to napa got one and it worked like a charm. A short time later the starter went (damn P.O.S camaro). Same thing tried a couple and all were bad. Had to go to napa again and worked fine. Moral of story spend the extra on a good one at least you know it will work.

    -side note
That camaro was the last small block chevy car i will ever own.
I am now in the know and will stick with ford forever.:)

Just hook up the fuel line from the tank to the pump (off the engine ) and operate the lever by hand. If it is good, gas will come out the carb feed connection.

Usually fuel pumps are new, they are cheap enough that they aren't rebuilt. If you have changed out 3 different pumps, then you need to start looking elsewhere. I have the same problem as you, and I believe it lies in an obstruction in my fuel tank.
