I need to get a new fuel sender for my 77 Maverick. I called AutoKrafters and was told they do not have one for the 77 only the 71-74, but they are on back order with a waiting list of 30!. Will the 71-74 sender fit the 77 tank? Is the only difference the capacity of the tank? If so an inaccurate gauge is better than no gauge at all. I checked with Quanta, who also sell Maverick tanks, but they do not have any senders for them. Is there any other source for the 71-74 senders?
    Thanks, Fred

    hi fread,
i took a '72 and extended the pickup tube to match the '77. how are you checking to come up with the sender is bad? maybe you have overlooked something and the sender is good and it is a float sinking, wire or connection. just a thought...frank...:bouncy:

    Frank,
Thanks. I may be able to find an early one a lot easier.

    I've had a few
Frank makes a good point, as usuall. :)

To test everything else, I took a piece of wire and shorted the connector together the connets to that fule sender. The gas gauge should go straight up to Full. I had to replace my sending unit and the fule gauge inside the cluster to get mine working again.

I called them also. They told me the same thing. A guy here said that evan if I got a new sending unit, it would not work with AutoMeter gauges. I'm think ablout the mustang swap. AutoMeter have gauges that works with mustang senders.
