John, I don't know for sure how the gas adjust works as there are several makes. They could adjust by twisting the shaft or one make has a knob on the outside. I think that this type of shock is a little overkill and is for fine tuning unless that is what your looking for.
On the steering noise, I would pin down what it is in order to know what to do about it. First place I would check is the mounting bolts through the frame into the steering box for being loose or broken, then interference of the linkage with some other part of the under carrage. There could be a problem with the control arm bushings being worn and causing some noise when turning the steering. Good luck.

    thanks

the steering linkage is all in need of attention. Do you have any good sources to send me too? I have thoes KYB shocks in front and they seem too stiff. I just put them on and never adjusted anything.

In general, the outer tie rod ends , the idle arm on the right side and ball joints are found at most auto supply stores. The upper and lower arms and bushings, spring pads and mounts can be obtained from a Mustang supply by ordering parts for the 70 to 73 model. They are the same parts. Auto Crafters has all the parts in there catalog page 23. Look at www.autokrafters.com.
If you are going to do the job, be awhere that the springs are under pressure. A spring compressor and caution, in order to be safe. Study what needs to be done before starting to work.
