Gas Gauge Not Working

    1975 Mercury Comet 4 door Sedan
    Because my 1975 Comet 4 Door is old and it suffered through a short flood and the elements being outside for 4 years and when I got it it had some moderate rust issues.

    My Gramps fixed the rusted out gas tank and now the gas gauge does not work? when you replace it does it not work anymore?

    so he replaced the gas tank and now it wont work

    the sending unit may have messed

    check the connections ??
