Found these tidbits while looking through the pages and searches on "George Ray", the guy who built a drag strip in his back yard (as the legend goes). It's got a great history, too. I believe there are a few folk on here from Arkansas and surrounding areas who might've had the pleasure to visit the track first hand. I'd like to run down it one day also. See This George Ray website and this one for historical and recent info with cool pics on George Ray's Wildcat "Heads Up" Drag Strip in Paragould, AR. Looks like a blast!
That is the second coolest thread ever posted here!!! And Jungle Pam,,, still gets me goin after all these years Grrrrrrrr. Dan
Have not been there yet but did race at Newport, Ar which is not to far from there. Had some friends go there and said it was a blast. No rules, no classes, just run what you brung. Hot Rod TV did a segment on it awhile back, I think George is in his 80's now? Most people go there just to say they have raced on his track, seen stickers that said the same, on some race cars. Some of the faster cars said it was a little hairy because of the width and safety was a concern. Never heard of any bad accidents though???? Is real grass roots drag racing and would make for great memories.
Wow. Thanks D! I'll ask, what's THE coolest thread (I didn't know we had an adult forum  )? also, I visited "Jungle Pam.Com" - way cool! Thx!
Horsepower TV did a segment there Joe ran his mustang. That is a cool track and George Ray is a American Icon.
