If you're just getting it ready for primer you can use 180 grit. It cuts pretty fast and won't leave too deep of scratches. The primer however needs to be sanded with much finer before being painted. The minimum we use is 400 wet or dry on primer and we wet sand everything. I'm not sure what type of primer you plan on using but if it's spray can primer you'll wind up regretting it in the long run.

    Good luck with your car.

    Spray paint primer

Hey yall, I have a question. I have tiny surface rust spots on the interior doors and in the "door well," forget what you call it. After I sand it down, would it be safe to just use spray can primer and then paint over it or should I just use paint and no primer? I would appreciate the input.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Jeff; I used spray can primer and top coat, and it is doing well. Holds up ok, even when I put my sweaty arm on it. Just make sure it is clean, and don't put too much paint on at one time...thin coats are good.
