Keep in mind that you have limited room between the water pump and radiator. With that belt setup you might not have room for a fan.

I am pretty sure the fan spacer I am using would clear that water pump pulley fine. It is the longest one I could find since I don't have shroud. Of course, it would have to clear it by enough to keep the fan blades from hitting the belt. Maybe you're right. :D

This set up might still work out just fine for me. I'm using a front engine plate so I can move the 351C back a little bit. I'm also using a Spal electric fan mounted on an Afco aluminum Ford cross flow radiator.

I'll have to start doing some measuring :)

I guess I'll take that comment personally since I have this belt setup on one of my cars...

My 66 Fairlane has a 302 H.O. installed with an electric fan. The clearance between the water pump pulley and the fan very tight. There is just enough room to squeeze the belt between them. It's about as close as it could be without rubbing. I also had to shim the alternator out to get the belt aligned correctly. I am planning on milling the power steering v-belt groove off the crank pulley to draw it in closer. This should get the belt more centered on all the pulleys.

I haven't had any issues with my setup and get quit a few compliments when people see it at shows (even if it is G-H-E-T-T-O)

Naw, it's more like O-V-E-R-K-I-L-L :biglaugh: If you're tossing V belts, something's out of line. And cogged belts to eliminate slippage with an alternator and waterpump ? What slippage ?

I like a Gilmer belt drive...................if it's driving a BLOWER on the top pulley! :drive::burnout:

I don't know who was complaining about "slippage", but I used the Gilmer setup purely for the looks. I wanted something different than the standard v-belt setup. I would definitely consider it overkill for your daily driver, but for a show car, i think it's a cool alternative.

    Not that I've noticed

I like it too...gotta do something with the miss matched pulleys on the 351, and have been looking around for something like this. There is another outfit putting out a similar product but the name escapes me right now.

Those are neat. And as for slippage, just try a v-belt with a 180 amp alternator!
