I feel ur pain! I can't really suggest any options but "Feel Ur Pain". I had Cherry Bomb glass pack on my car when I got it. Removing them was the first change I made to the car. I drove the car frm Iola Wis. to Chicago "250"and the noise wore me out. They were Ok when I was many yrs younger - not at this point in life. My mufflers are probably to conservative for most performance minded folks - " Maramont low restriction". I like um - can really enjoy my stereo and road trips now. When it comes to mufflers - most everyone has a different preference.

I have MagnaFlows and I like the sound. Sound similar to a glass pack....but only when I put my foot in it. Reasonably quiet otherwise.

Turbo mufflers has a nice tone while not being too loud. I also like the dynomax ultra flows, but some would say they border on too loud.

Do you have any kind of crossover pipe on it?

I have a 2 1/4" X-pipe behind headers going to Flowmaster 40s turmed down in front of the rear axle with bare steel floor and it is quieter inside than I expected. Once I get the Fatmat and carpet down it will be even quieter. It is not loud idling on the drive from 10 feet away. The engine is stock save for the four barrel carb conversion.

I'm thinking the crossover would mellow out the glasspacks. Craig, which MagnaFlows do you have?

I just installed a pair of Flowmaster 40's dropped at the axle on my 71 GT 302. I had old school turbo's on there. Yes they rattle the neighbors dishes in her kitchen, but the sound is decent. Raspy sound.

My 80 F100 is running 3" from cat back. The Flowmasters have a deeper more aggressive sound.
I had glasspacks on my 59 F100 Y-block, they came off quickly.

I have done glasspacks, flowmasters, straight pipes, and magnaflows.

From now on Magnaflows on everything I own.

Nice aggressive tone, no drone, and not obnoxiously loud. And I picked up 1.5 mpg over flowmasters on my Hemi truck with them.

Plus, stainless construction, so they won't rust out.

I'm going with Flowmaster series 40 on the Comet. The drone can live with as it's not going to be a daily driver and will see some track time. There's no other sounds like Flowmasters :) I have them on my 07 Mustang and they sound AWESOME. But then I've never been known for subtlety :yikes:
