I relocated my GM HEI module from the dash to where the battery used to be, i used some thin aluminum sheet metal from lowes to mount it. should i mount a heat sink on the back or would the sheet metal act as a big heat sink? im thinkin i may have to block off the battery vent to keep water from blowing in when it rains. *any tips/comments are welcome View attachment 51785 View attachment 51786 View attachment 51787
for the time being it is, havnt been able to start the car yet, dont worry it will be move out of the way.
Is that a Taruas fan on the radiator? If so, what issues to clear the water pump pulley? I have same rad and thin Flex-a-Lite 2 5*8" and have 1/2" clearance.
i got the fan from jegs, the clearance is fine the fan dosnt touch the pulley at all, its built with a lopro motor. its made for a late modle V8 mustang. i found a place to move the module to also. link for the fan: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/52135/10002/-1?parentProductId=1042834
Thanks for the link X. Is that a Champion 3 row rad the fan is attached? Do U have any pix w/ more of a top & side view of the setup? Im thinkin abt that setup. My fan pulls 2500cfm but car runs a little warmer than I like, 230 in 90+ temps w/ ac on idling in heavy traffic. My fan don't have a shroud and I believe that wud make it more efficient. As, long as the car is moving no problem.
I moved the GM module back some View attachment 51794 Hope these two pics help you Mojo, i can take some more and pm them to you if you want, its a champion 2 row made for a 66 stang. View attachment 51795 View attachment 51796
Everett, if all you're looking for is a solution to overheating while idling, I bet you just need a shroud.
Ok X. Thx for the pix. I see u have the 2 row rad that's why I think u have all that room. With the 3 row for the Mav's ain't that much room. The second pix is kind of hard to see cuz kind of dark in that area, but not nearly as much as ur setup.
I believe ur right Jim. I been trying to figure that one out. Since I don't drive that much in 90+ wx I have'nt made it a priority. Most of the driving I do in that type of conditions are late in the evening and on my way back home it's usually dark and cooler and not an issue. I wud have to move the fan off center frm water pump to make a shroud work. I am kickin the idea arnd for nx season. Also, I may install a shelf/cover over the top of the grill to force all/most air thru the rad instead of thru top of rad and under the hood. I saw a setup like that at the RU this July. I did'nt think to ask what, If any benefit it was. If I can't figure out a shroud; I may try to make a funnel frm the grill to rad w/ sh metal bringing most of the air thru grill thru rad. As long as I stay under 225 Im not to concerened. This is only a problem w/ ac running. Sri, guess I got of the thread topic SORRY. Will do PM's now on.
