Just brought home my first fomoco project. I am an auto restoration apprentice by trade and a sailor as well. I have a 70 with a 3 speed and a 170 straight six. 58xxx original miles. Goal is to to a light mod restoration with a few tweaked and such.

Well dont plan on puttin a small block chevy in it unless ya plan on swapping the subframe. I WAS THAT GUY. I instead have built a windsor stroker and I am pleased with learning about the GOOD ford powerplants. Never built 1 before, and with the help of 2 Ford experts who build ford engines nationaly I am pleased with the new powerplant.

Looking at this pic, you have done some kind of mods cuz I see no rear steering? but also cannot see a sump for an oil pan. I am not saying you didnt, just trying to see how you did it. lol

my engine crossmember is in the way for any rear sump pan. even thought about trying a chevy2 pan for a chevy swap but just went with the ford power plant. It was a damn shame too cuz my 421 was done and tried and tested. Ran that engine in my modified racecar bout 4 nights and really wanted to put it my maverick, but had to change game plan

All you would had needed for a regular sbc was a oem style early chevy II pan some easy to fab mounts and some time
