Looks like Sunday will be the first race of the season, i've gotten the car aligned and she's ready to go. I"ll be racing in the 6.99 index class at Shadyside Dragway in Shelby NC. http://www.shadysidedragway.com the only rule in this class is don't go any faster then a 6.99. I'll be leaving the nitrous at home and taking it easy on the motor in this class! The car has been running consistent 7.00's on motor so it's looking good!!!
wish you lot's of luck. one thing about drag racing is it humbles you so fast. after winning sat before last i came back with high hopes only to redlight the first round. oh well, will be at firebird in phoenix this sat night.
Well, the drag racing was fun in that I didn't break anything and everything worked like it was supposed to. Although, the car went too fast!! Keep in mind that I left the nitrous at home and was just running on motor. I knew the car was gonna run faster then a 6.99 so I decided to turn the timing back and turn the shift rpm back to 6750 rpm's.......well, it didn't work. The car went a 6.83 off the trailer, not to mention I got my best 60' time on motor. I then decided to turn the shift point back to 6200 rpm's to slow it down but it didn't work and I ran a 6.88 in the first round of eliminations so I got put out in the first round. Oh well, it was fun anyway....gonna have to slow the car down some more!!
I don't think there was a slower index (from what I remember from the drag strip site). And yes, plenty of people slow their cars down by doing exactly the same - take out timing and lower shift rpms. ----------- Too bad you didn't have enough time for more TT! WTG anyway. Sounds like one helluva ride you got!
I guess thats a bad problem too have! It could have been worse, you could have had to try and find some speed! Anyways, sounds like a good day at the track.........6.83???????? Those changes must have work.
Yea, to be honest I didn't expect the car to go that fast. The main thing that got me excited is that my best 60' time on motor this past weekend was a 1.47. I just tied my best 60' time on NOS but I was just on motor!! That will just let you know how much I was hazing the tires at the line last year! I forsee some low 1.30's and some 5.8?'s passes this year, and all on a 26x10" tire!!
Man, you GOTTA get someone to video a 5 second pass. I'll spread it over every web site on the wild web world.
