I agree Derrick. I think it's crap they are using your photos especially considering they are copywritten aren't they? I say put the screws to them.
Turn them in to ebays' VeRO program. It is for the protection of a persons intellectual property and picture stealing. Go to the site map and look in the safe harbor area for information about VeRO. They will pull the auction and place heavy warnings on the persons account. They act quickly on this stuff because of past lawsuits.
C'mon Derrick...... I do understand the one about the hood pic, but the side molding....... If I was trying to sell this stuff and wanted to show what it looked like I would try to find a pic of a car with it on there also. Its not like you spent hours creating this molding and he took almost all the car out of the pic. Derrick you got be a little forgiving, its not like he was trying to pass off anything as his
VeRO works. I sold a Powerglide gearset a while back and right away another seller used my entire description, pictures, everything buy my price on his auction. Basically copied and pasted everything that I had written up. Turned it in to Ebay. I received an email saying that action was taken.
I had the same thing happen to me when I was selling a collection of old Western books. I checked on the auction one day and discovered another auction using the exact same picture I had taken of my books. One complaint to Ebay put a stop to the problem and the other auction was pulled. They( Ebay) very much frown on that and the VeRO program really works. It would be cool if you could charge them for using your pictures though. Maybe 10% of the total selling price. After all, it's YOUR picture that is selling thier parts.
I agree with Ward. The guy needed a picture of what the molding looked like when actually mounted on the car and he cut out almost all of the picture except the molding. Where's the value in starting a big stink over that?
nah i'm not pissed or anything the moldings pic is no big deal to me. kinda hard to find a picture of an LDO anyways. i was just trying to make a point and thought it was kinda funny that i keep seeing my car up there. why is it you thats selling it.. ? but yeah no biggy if it was a real problem i would have handled it like the hood situation. cuz thats the one i had a real problem with. anwyays i think i might see my whole car up there for sale one day.
Derrick, The way I see it, you have a very high profile car(s). They've been in countless magazines and even on TV. You have sponsors that give you parts and accessories to install on your vehicles for the purpose of free advertising for them. You have a flashy website and pictures of your cars with hot girls in your signature and avatar on this website. You're proud of your car and you like to show it off - no problem there but you have to accept the fact that when you have that much exposure, you're bound to run into people who want to use your stuff as an example. It's simply the price of fame. As we have all learned, things on the internet have an infinite life span. If you put something out there, you'd better accept the fact that you may see it again. It has also been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Instead of getting upset, maybe you could feel proud that someone thinks your cars are nice enough to use as an example. Sam
Nope. I had a feeling that might be the implication...my Ebay ID is firehawk396, if anyone cares. I guess my comment wasn't directed specifically at you, Derrick. I was just kinda surprised that the prevailing sentiment was to rip this person apart for using a portion of your picture as an example of parts he is selling. I guess my thinking is different...this person is doing those of us looking for Maverick parts a favor in a way, and may even be a Maverick owner. We have always been a real friendly group...this attitude seemed a little less than friendly..and I didn't see the point...
Nope not me either, I live in Ky. Derrick, I'm glad that you are good humored about this because meant nothing ill towards you, just that it was hardly a complete photo. You do have some nice cars and a great web site for them so I guess it goes with what Sam said about the flattery thing.
