Well, had a decent night at the track. Got down to 8 cars. Coupled with getting down to 6 last weekend, I'm having some fun and going rounds. I should have gone farther, but I was flickering the staged light as the other guy set his stage light, and it gave me a redlight I wasn't real happy about it...but it is what it is... Did have my best package that I've had in a while (maybe ever) ...managed a total package of .002... had a .000 light and ran dead on with a 2! That'll play pretty much anywhere. My brother was asking if that was the best I've ever had, but I couldn't answer...so maybe. I don't really recall, and don't have the timeslip, so, as he put it...that's the best you can PROVE lol. I'm in the right lane, and I ran the same guy in the first round also. I was on the losing end of a .009 MOV, so I bought back for the first time this year, and we managed to be next to each other in the lane again. 60 fts were all over the place all night, as they were also having a street car event, and the line was all jacked up. Had to dial the car up to be safe. As a general rule, the car has been running upper 6.30's with a 1.35 60' being the best it's had. Best 60' on Saturday was a couple of 1.39's. On that timeslip, I put the car on it's nose at the stripe, and scrubbed off 4 mph And yes...it was just blind dumb luck lol.
If you are not using a delay box your reaction time was fantastic.I watched the Piedmont NC race from a couple of weeks ago on MotormaniaTV last wknd.It was the Super Bowl of bracket racing over here, paid $50,000 to win each day,Fri,Sat,& Sunday. Most all the electronics cars were cutting average .002 lights,a lot of big names & heavy hitters were there. There were three classes, slowest being footbrake & the fastest wre the gasoline powered rails, some turning 4.2s in the 1/8 at 160mph.At final eliminations each day they combined the 3 classes to run for the prize. On Sat. one of the race teams put up an xtra $5,000 to sweeten the pot to $55,000 if a foot brake car were to win it.A guy named Floyd had a little primer gray Chevy Vega with no hood cut .004 reaction times all day & made it down to 10 cars including his.He was only turning 6.4s all day,now that`s a drag racer.Obviously he did not win,but if I was at the track I would have made it a point to seek him out & shake his hand for a job well done, our sport needs more of this.Nothing like seeing a little guy do that well against all that big money. One of the racers with a rail whose last name was Plott, had in the recent past won the Championship at 3 different tracks the same year, are you kidding me,won all 3.It is hard enough to win one much less 3 the same year, that`s what that little Vega was up against!WOW
Yep...I watched some of that on my phone while we were at the track. Definitely some bad dudes there. And I was leaving off of a transbrake, but no box. I knew I was going to need a good light...but that was cutting it a little close lol! The guy I was running was actually in a satin black primered Vega, and he's known as a pretty serious racer. I've actually had a .0000 light one time, and I still have that time slip put up somewhere. I accidentally did that in my daughters daily driven 10.90's in the 1/8th V6 Mustang one night lol. I literally left when the second amber came on, and was shocked when I didn't get a redlight ... I was racing one of my best friends at the track, and he still won! I broke out lol. Good times. I was hoping to make the Bottom Bulb Battle race at Beech Bend this past weekend, but wound up having to back up our on call PM for ER's. I'm hoping to make the Ky Footbrake Nationals in Nov this year, but it depends on how business is doing. It's been crazy lately, and I have 2 more folks that I need to get hired and up to speed very soon. I love racing...but in the end, it's just a hobby.
Great thing is Maxx, you are having fun & that is what it is all about.I know when I get out there it will be for fun,I don`t expect to be a top racer.Your car is in what I call the sweet spot, between a 6 flat & a 6.40,you don`t have to be any faster than that if you & your car are consistent,YOU CAN WIN MANY RACES,I`ve witnessed it to many times. That is about what I expect my car to do when it is finished.I don`t plan on being on par with the crowd that was at Piedmont, just out of my league. Not only that, look at that race,$80 for a buy back.COME ON,you better have DEEP pockets & a fast car & run a bunch of rounds or your pockets are going to be mighty thin when you leave.
Saturday,Oct. 1,if you can get to Waynesboro Va to Eastside dragway,GO.Gear Jammers & Pro Stick are going to race,& I believe Gary(bb466) & his son will also go for the bracket race, should be a great time & I think the weather is going to cooperate.Should be a good car count for the stick guys as neither group has a points race that wknd.
