69 degree's and some sun, got in a full program of TNT for a change. Last run was two weeks ago and it rained out after first pass. The 331 in the Fairmont was not performing as expected, ran the same ET in the 1000 as the old wore out 302. Found some rusty gunk in the carb and brought to the house to clean it up. Installed today and first run goes like this. Reaction time=.543, 60ft-1.49, 330ft=4.50. 1/8th ET=7.03 and MPH=97.66. 1000ft=9.07 @ 110.16, beats last weeks 9.27 @ 107. Will let Mavman relate the numbers he turned in the Maverick . Made one more pass and it was even better with .556 light, 1.46, 60 and a 6.96, 1/8th. Topped out at 9.01 @ 110.21 Am pleased with the car and my RT too, could be better but will take it. Racing tomorrow for the green stuff, drivers are going to vote on weather or not to switch to running 1/8th mile only, hope to at least equal today's efforts. Win or lose, this old guy feel's it was all worth the time and effort to build this motor and car, even if I never get behind the wheel again.
The Mav ran well. The new engine is REALLY torquey..especially for a small block. It went 7.94/125 in the 1000, 6.12/115 1/8 mile, with a 1.33 60'. I wish I could borrow a digital video camera to have someone "tape" a run...so I can watch how the chassis works, and you all can watch a nice wheels up launch. In the meantime, the old white mustang is still going the same as it was. 9.384/110, pulls hard on the far end, but the converter is holding back some ET at the launch and 60'. It's fine though....great bracket car, converter is too tight and it is hard for it to spin the tires. Just to wet your whistle, I recorded a run with the Mustang, start to finish line and then some. Click the link below and it will take you to the file, then either save or open it...it's about 2MB or so, so dial up users beware--it might take a minute or so do download. http://home.ripway.com/2005-3/269071/index.html
sounds like a good time. glad the car is running good. just got the car back yesterday. still waiting for the valences and the hood. i went out on disability for a while with a knee problem so i don't know if i'll make next weeks drr race in tucson, but i'll definitely be ready for the points race in 2 weeks.
Impressive numbers guys! Both of you are getting closer and closer to that "ZERO E.T."! I'd love to see videos if you ever get the opportunity. Continued success!
