TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA!! "Since the registration on your model year 1970 vehicle is expiring soon, please consider an alternative to driving this vehicle" It goes on to state how ineffecient my car is! HA! It burns cleaner than my 1997 Blazer.. Oh by the way, the offer was "up to $650.00" ! Scotty P
So do owners of BOSS Mustangs, SS/RS Camaros, Z/28's and Shelby's get these same letters offering them $650?
In the other direction.....N. Carolina has stopped requiring vehicle inspections for vehicles 35 years and older. I was a bit surprised since it is a form of revenue for the state. I bet part of it is that inspection station operators don't know what the heck they are looking at when cars get that age. Seth
I think I would send them a letter back kindly stating they can stick there 650 bucks where the sun don't shine.
I don't have to smog mine either in CA. (not yet anyways!) But I will take 2 BOSS 429's and a Z28 at that price!
They want to buy it so that they can have it crushed. The State of California has absolutely no appreciation or respect for classic American cars. And yes, it's a double standard. I doubt they are offering to buy people's 1970 Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, Corvettes, or GTOs for $650. I wonder if they're even offering to buy them at all. How about 1955 Ford Thunderbirds and 1957 Chevy Bel Aires? They offering to buy those too? How about 1970 Jaguar, Mercedes, Ferarri, Porsche, etc.?...
If I ever got a letter like that I would mail it back to them with a note attached that reads, " Dear sir(s), You can't even afford to LOOK at my car for $650. Please bend over and stuff this letter were it belongs."
i would like to top their offer. i would go 700.00 if you are thinking of taking them up on it!AREN'T environmentalists great.LOL
