I have included a few poor quality pictures of my 72 Maverick. Just got it up an running again. Combo consists of a 2V cleveland headed 302 with a mild solid cam. full manual C4 with a 4000 stall. stock 8 inch with 4.62 gears and cal-tracs. Hoping for lower 13's in the quarter.

    Best regards,
    Tony Reiners

you'll probably run faster. remember you'll need to remove the hubcaps at the track so the car will be a lot lighter.:tiphat:

dont forget to take a helmet. most tracks (nhra & ihra rules) require a helmet 13.99 and faster. the weight of the helmet will offset removing the hubcaps.

Thats a cool car  , I like the engine combo. What kind of exhaust manifold/header are you running? Let us know how she runs!

Did spot two things you need to fix for the "sleeper" deal.
    1. Move the MSD behind the dash on the passenger side. Run the wires through a loom.
    2. Move the fuel regulator to the outside of the fenderwell and pass the fuel line through the fenderwell.

Better off if those aren't visible.

i agree. one of the first things i noticed was the fuel regulator. course, nobody's supposed to be looking under the hood of a sleeper. good point about the msd. i had mine in the same place. had to send it back to msd yesterday. don't know if that was the problem, but i had already planned on moving it inside the passenger compartment.:)

Underdrive pulley on the alternator gives it away a bit too. smear some grease on everything to give it that "lived in" look.
I agree about it maybe running faster than you're predicting. Seems like a cool car. Try to get us some video!

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
nice sleeper!!!! (y) (y) now go punk some mustangs

i noticed the same thing.. also think of painting that coil black ;) too many years of street racing to pull that one off me :p

but i'm also sure since it has a solid cam and a 4k stall i'm sure that would give it away too ;)

i'l also see some guys do white wall slicks that would be cool.. lol

I guess I would have been the fool that got his A$$ crushed. I didn't notice the pressure regulator nor the pulley until they were mentioned. Nice job though.

Thanks for the comments guys. Im really not trying to go full stealth with the car. It just so happens the body is in pretty terrible shape. I bought the car for $225 when I was 14. Im 20 now. The car has had many different engine combinations in it with the best one running 12.70's@105 on 89 octane through the muffs. I hope this engine will do that well but the 351 cleveland iron manifolds and lack of compression ratio may put a damper on things.

The engine has a stock cast 302 crank, 289 rods, and boss 302 pistons. However the block has never been decked so the pistons seem to be down in the hole a ways. At least to far for my liking. The heads are traditional open chamber 2 barrel cleveland that have been straight cut approx .060". The cam is also kind of a wuss in that it has only .47x" lift at the valve and is ground on a 110 deg. lobe seperation. duration @.050" is 232. Seems to be all done by about 6400rpm. Hopefully it will still go low 13's high 12's on 89 octane. I plan on building an X pipe and new exhaust for the car which should help out drastically. It currently has 2.5" duals that dump at the rear axle with cheapy $14 turbo mufflers. There is also no exhaust cross over.

Much beyond the exhaust I don't know that I will find any more power with this setup or chassis for that matter. I do all of my tunning with an innovate wideband and the chassis cant really get that much better sans it already has cal-tracs on it. A set of drag shocks may be a worthwhile up grade.

Glad you guys like the car. I will get some better photos sometime soon and will definetly get video and pictures at the track....which still doesnt open for 2 months!

    Best regards,
    Tony Reiners
