My hood is perfect ready for paint and I got it for under 100$, Absolutely zero rust in it!!!

    I don't understand your point ... so you got a deal ....

All my Grabber hoods are rust free. One came on my Grabber, one I got basically for free in a large parts lot and one I traded parts for. I didn't pay $500 for mine either ... but that's what I would sell for. I'll give you $100 for yours if you want to sell it ... :)

I'm still kicking myself for not buying an NOS one for $600 ... still in factory primer ....

MAV on the board got an NOS one for free from a guy cleaning out his garage.

Now I'm usually the first one to say something is overpriced, but from what I have seen, 500-700 is about the going price for a rust free Grabber hood. And no doubt in my mind that price could easily double or triple in the next 10-15 years as these cars get more and more popular and parts get harder and harder to find. And I agree, I wouldn't pass up a rust free flat hood for $40, much less a Grabber hood!

I just know one of these days I'll find one in Pull-A-Part for $35. Or at least I can keep dreaming.

$500 isnt bad for a rust free original. A good fiberglass reproduction will cost you at least that much. Of all the 20 or 30 Mavericks I've run across in junkyards around here none have had the scooped Grabber hoods. Mine is the only one I know of. They are few a far between.

The Grabber hood I have now cost me $300.....and the price included the car attached to it too.

so I'm not going to complain I never got a good deal on a Grabber hood.

(won't keep me from looking for more though)

so would it be possible to put the scoops on a regular (rust-free) mav hood?

I wish it were that easy...the hoods are shaped totally different on the top. It can't be done. :(

What they said, you would have better luck with an aftermarket scoop of some sort.

I have split up the thread - no need to get a long discussion about hoods inside Jimmy's FOR SALE ad. Continue on with the discussion here.
