I was looking at my recently purchased 71 Grabber and noticed that the hood was the same color as the body instead of having a blackout area, is this possible the car doesn't appear to ever have been painted could they come w/o a blackout on the hood. Also for everyone curious the Doll Stallion will be delivered to me today and I am VERY excited.
Congrats on the "Doll"of a Stallion! 'Glad the car stayed in 'The Family'. (I dunno the answer to your q)
most likely the stripe wore off. they were painted on after in a somewhat thin layer, so after years of buffing they would come off. if not then i would say it was repainted at some point.
I have never seen a grabber hood that didn't come with the black out. Part of the 71 and 72 grabber package was the graphics and the grabber hood was definitely part of the grabber package. I seriously doubt that you could get a partial package, but then again, I may be wrong. I say it's either worn off or has been repainted too. Oh yeah, congrats on the Stallion you lucky dog!
Thanks for all the replys I thought maybe the missing blackout was wrong but wanted to be sure I like the cars better with it I gotta go meet my Stallion more later. Frank
Thanks to all the well wishers the Stallion arrived late last night and it is better than I expected even my Mustang loving wife was impressed I am truly going to enjoy this car but probably going to sell one of the Grabbers so I can find a Maverick Sprint to go w/ my Maverick collection and I also have a Falcon and Mustang Sprint.
out of all the cars i've had i wish i still had my 64 falcon sprint. that was a fun car. got rid of it in 66. didn't know whay i had or what it would be.
I am more than happy that the Stallion has found such a good home. I'm sure you are going to enjoy it as much as we did. If it ever gives you a hard time, just remind the car that it's name used to be " Ugly". It always responded well to that. Enjoy and post some pictures when you get a chance. Dale and I would love to see it again.
