The grabber is becoming a pile of parts. Might as well do it right even though it is just a cosmetic redo and lots of mechanical repairs. I think this car was just driven and never really maintained. The exhaust, shocks appear to be factory. I do know it had a repaint, not badly done. The right lower fender portion was a big concern for me, but as you can see in the pic it is solid, I thought the support brace would be gone from the looks of the outside. I was also concerned about the lower corners of the cowls. A small repair on the left side will fix it. The battery area needs some work at the rad support, but it is all contained to a 6" section and is just flat sheet metal, easy to fix. I like to take pics and then show them to people when I am doing a project like this. That way a buyer can know with confidence just what the car is.

Dan, a garage full of Maverick parts is worth more than a complete Chevy anyday. Car looks to be in pretty good shape there...keep up the good work and keep the pics coming. That's gonna be a nice car soon.:D

    Dan,
It's a good possibility they can't mix the basecoat in the color you need. They can't convert a lot of the older colors over to the basecoats. I use Dupont paint at my shop and they have a Chromavision camera that they can attache to the car. The special camera actually counts all the different pigments in the paint and will come up with it's own formula. We use it a lot when we have a color that's hard to match. If they say they can't mix your color in basecoat, ask about the Chromavision if it's Dupont. If you go with PPG, I think they have something similar. I can't tell you about the other guys. Good luck.(y)

That's exactly how our Stallion finally got restored. Started out fixing one thing and that one thing turned into something else and so on and so on. We even have a name for that. We call it " The Snowball Effect". What ever you start out to do snowballs into something else. Before you know it you're so far into it there's no point in stopping.:) It's like a weird addiction.

Was the cowl already painted red? Was there some repair there previously? Just curious. The fenders and battery area look like my 71 Grabber did.

I'm finding out It's hard to limit repairs and try to just do a decent job. It seems like there is no in between, it's either a half-**ssed job or a job done right (that takes over 2 years and mucho$$$). I'm losing patience on mine...I just want to drive it. I don't care if it is not perfect, but it is hard to overlook things if you know that it will look like crap if you do.
